Sign near the Albergue San Bol (Burgos). It says: "Open all year!" "Closed today". (2009)

2010

Refuge closed until next year! (Sign in Sahagún)

The inhabitants of Lugo do not go out for dinner!

Sign in a refuge in Pamplona. Apparently they have a kitchen and dining room

in the second floor. You just: "Cook and eat!"

Some pilgrims are in a hurry to reach Santiago. They are called "Turbogrinos".

Literally: Street Main Road (Calle Carretera). Apparently they do not have heroes

to honour in this village near Frómista,

not even Generalísimo Franco "El Caudillo".

Menu at the bus terminal of Santiago.

Try the hedgehogs, or the ali oli, or the espaleteada! Or the barbels.

(This restaurant is recommended, even though their menu is somewhat badly translated).

Style 1965, style 1865, style 2009.

Obviously there is no 'Planning Comittee' in this small village (Columbrianos) just past Ponferrada.

Detailed maps are required to reach Santiago!!!

Pilgrim Statue in Negreira (at 20 kms past SDC).

What the .. is he doing with his right hand???

Statue in a garden in Hontanas (near Burgos).

What is he/she doing with his/her left hand?

Can these statues be purchased in a Hardware shop??

You certainly need the help of a plummer!!

Until recently this statue stood on the plaza at Portomarín.

It prevented the pilgrims from entering the Council Hall in the background.

Sign at some 10 kms before León.

Just about every Spanish province demands "independence".

Poetry on a wall just before Nájera.

"Only He in Heaven can explain certain difficult issues!" (Bottom left)

Comment: "Sicher das er ein ER ist?" (Are you sure he is a HE?)

Sign in the (good)  "Albergue de Sangüesa"  in Navarra

Sign at Mallorca Airport

(Air Berlin flies to Mallorca from all over Europe.)

People learn to fly on a broom stick in Santiago

Shop in Oviedo which sells carrots and spectacles

A pilgrim (or a few pilgrims) wrote the word "casi" (which means: "almost")

on just about every sign and wall between León and Santiago.

Even the monument of Guillermo Watt (at 22 kms from SDC),

a 65-year old pilgrim who died while on his way, was disgraced.

Luckily the offenders left their URL so they could be traced.

The "eternal pilgrim" pictured on a T Shirt

Traffic sign in Galicia.

An Italian pilgrim wrote on it: "Attento al tori?"

In a hotel room in Germany they offer their guests a

500 ml bottle of water. Price: € 5
